Macro II 2010

 

The teachers: will be John Hassler, Per Krusell  and Paul Klein.

Course purpose: continue building a base for understanding and doing macroeconomic research, emphasizing theory and associated quantitative applications.

TA sessions: will be taught by Axel Bernergård och Alex Schmitt. They will discuss homework solutions as well as analyze a variety of models that complement the material taught in class.

Examination: the final grade is determined based on homeworks (20%) and on an exam (80%).

Readings: lecture notes from each lecturer, plus a selection of other sources, including Per

Krusell's Real Macroeconomic Theory, Chad Jones's Introduction to Economic Growth,

Daron Acemoglu's Introduction to Modern Economic Growth, Ljungqvist and Sargent's

Recursive Macroeconomic Theory, and some specific papers.

Problem sets

Problem sets account for 20% of the grade. In order for them to add to your grade, they have to be written individually and handed in on time. While collaboration between students is allowed and encouraged, copies of other students’ answers will not be graded.
